Rather than the pre-installed Windows 10, I use Linux Mint 17.3. The start up time for this computer is remarkable: 8 seconds from pressing the button to Internet-ready. The keyboard is spacious and well laid out. The monitor has very good resolution and is well suited for watching online videos. However, the speaker system is the worst I've ever encountered in a laptop. How the manufacturer could have countenanced putting such a cheap speaker pair in such an otherwise good computer is beyond me. Another annoyance is the size of the touchpad: it is 3" x 5", far bigger than I've seen before, and not well delineated visually. Unless one is careful, the mouse pointer can wind up in unexpected spots -- and havoc can easily ensue. (I always preferred the ThinkPad's little red dot, myself, but I stay away from Lenovo these days.)

"For the price of the laptop, you cannot beat it. It has most of the same basic specs as the comparable Acer and Asus but it is about $100 to $150 cheaper. I couldn't tell myself that the other laptops were worth that much more to me so I went with this HP. It only has a 128gb hard drive but that was plenty for me. I read reviews about people having a hard time with the touchpad and the right and left clicker but I haven't experienced any issues with them. The battery seems to be very strong.
